ABMT PHILOSOPHY
The ABMT's is structured around Hemingway's story of The Old Man & The Sea. For the sake of maintaining the purity of the sport... our first priority is to match "Man against Beast" with the belief that anglers must always "be prepared" to capture the IGFA Atlantic Blue Marlin Record. The angling rules of this event set the stage for the moment in one's angling career - when much like a conquering gladiator - a personal decision must be made to either boat or release the ultimate catch.
Matching anglers against other anglers while maintaining the above stated philosophy has been accomplished.

ANGLER DIVISION
Anglers in this division agree to rotate rod positions and they earn points
that are based on their individual catches. Importantly, the ABMT's angling rules governing this division provide a fair means in which to award the beautifully sculptured
bronze hooks that are won by 1st. 2nd and 3rd. place anglers.
The dream of many is to also see their name listed on the ABMT's beautiful Ed Pang perpetual named 'Straight Up' which was commissioned by the late Winthrop Paul Rockefeller. The names shown on this trophy are literally some of the best anglers (past and present) in the sport of Big Game Fishing!
Unique is the fact that anglers entered into this division are also competing with those fishing in the 'Team Division' for the same Calcutta and daily cash pots.
Crews compete with each other for cash prizes. The "Best Crew" are awarded cash prizes for 1st. ($1500) 2nd. ($1000) and 3rd. ($500) "most" blue marlin catches.
In addition to the cash awards the first, second and third "Best
Captains" win a nice tackle prize for their personal use.
A "Bonus Tag" award of $1,000 goes to the
crew that tags the most marlin.
TEAM DIVISION
Catch a bunch of blue marlin and win the ABMT's "Top Team" Awards. This will 
be an epic event to follow because anglers choosing to compete in this division will also be fishing head to head against those fishing by the abmt's traditional angler rules!

The ABMT has always been an industry leader... it was the first in the world to release blue marlin, thereby setting the standards of needed conservation that is now being followed the world over. The ABMT's idea to pit the two divisions against each other... preserves its history while again it raises the bar for those who enjoy the sport of Big Game Fishing!
